Graduation requirements

Diploma Covers
Graduation from Maine Township High School District 207 requires that students earn 23.25 credits, consisting of 20 academic credits plus 3.25 additional non-academic credits. To stay on track toward graduation, students should take 6 classes plus physical education.

20 academic credits
  • 4 credits - English
  • 3 credits - Math
  • 3 credits - Science
  • 3 credits - Social science (including .5 credit of Government and 1 credit of US History and all freshmen must enroll in World Cultures)
  • 2 credits - Fine Arts, Foreign Language, or Career & Technical Education
  • 5 credits - electives

3.25 non-academic credits
  • .25 credit - Consumer Education
  • .25 credit - Oral Communication
  • .5 credit - Health Education
  • 1.75 credits - Physical Education (each semester except when taking Health)
  • .5 credit - Safety Education (Driver Education)

To continue moving forward through the grade levels, students must have earned the following credits:
  • To be classified as a 10th grade student - 5 credits
  • To be classified as an 11th grade student - 11 credits
  • To be classified as a 12th grade student - 17 credits
