Reflections on a Block Party, Innovation and a Staff that Rocks

At my block party in Park Ridge yesterday I watched my neighborhood full of young children riding bikes, bouncing in the bouncy house (of course) and screaming with joy at being turned loose at the block party (of course).

I’ve watched my neighborhood turn over in the past five years. When we moved into the neighborhood 13 years ago it was full of teenagers, so our two teens fit right in. Over time houses went up for sale, and in nearly every case a young family with young children moved into the house, bringing little ones learning to walk, ride bikes and meet new friends. Know a big reason why these new families moved here? Because of the public schools available to them in our District. As I speak with these new families I am proud to share what we are doing in District 207 (OF COURSE) to prepare for their students when we get to serve them.

Thank you for everything you do to help us reach “Collective Teacher Efficacy” to make sure that young families continue to know that when looking for a place to live, nobody in America is working harder than District 207 to provide an educational experience for every student every day that is as good as anyone’s ever developed.

My first blog of the year posted yesterday, outlining some of the groundbreaking work we are doing. Please feel free to share it with friends or family who may be considering where they want to raise their family so that their children have access to world class public education. And let me know if you have ideas that we should be sharing in future blogs, especially things happening in your classes.

You guys rock. I could not be prouder of a staff. Thank you for being the essential part of our learning journey.
