The Rivers Casino Charitable Foundation recently provided Maine West High School with $70,000 for the Maine West Scholarship Fund that will help provide financial assistance to students from the school to attend either a 2 or 4-year college or university. The Maine West Scholarship Fund (formerly Dollars for Scholars) has been raising money to provide scholarships for graduating seniors for more than ten years with the mission to mobilize the community through partnership to help expand access to higher educational opportunities by awarding post-secondary scholarships to the students of Maine West.
The $70,000 will provide scholarships of $1,000-$2000 scholarships to 35 students.
This donation follows a $30,000 donation in May from the Rivers Casino Charitable Foundation that provided $1,000 scholarships to 30 graduating seniors who are now freshmen in college.
