Remote learning (or at home learning) is a term used for when students access their courses online using District 207’s extensive suite of educational technology tools rather than physically attending school.
While students routinely engage in the use of technology as part of participating in class, the District will utilize remote learning days if we need to close one or more of our schools due to an emergency such as inclement weather or when we have determined that it is not appropriate for our students and staff to report to one of our campuses.
Please follow the links below for more information regarding remote learning in D207.
How will students and parents be notified if a remote learning day will be used?
Parents and students will be notified just as they have been informed in the past of emergency school closings. The announcement will be made via phone and email through our school messaging system and posted to the website and other social media platforms. If remote learning will be utilized for an extended period of time, that will be shared with parents in advance of the remote learning days.
What happens if my child needs assistance?
Teachers will be available to students through their school email and other means.
When will remote assignments be posted?
Teachers will share with students when assignments are due and provide guidance on turning in assignments.
What if we don’t have Internet access at our home?
D207 can provide families with WiFi hotspots. If you are in need of a hotspot, please contact your child’s counselor who can provide you with information and request documents. If your family has additional concerns, please speak to your child’s counselor.
Families who qualify for low cost internet may apply for Internet Essentials from Comcast or Access from AT&T. Comcast is now providing two months of free service to new qualifying customers, as well as opening up the Xfinity WiFi service to the public (Comcast press release). To connect to Xfinity WiFi look for the “xfinitywifi” network name when searching for a WiFi network on your device. Open a browser to finish making the connection.
