| Brief Description of Program/Career | Medical laboratory technicians work with medical laboratory scientists and pathologists to determine the presence and extent of a disease and provide data needed to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. Tests may be automated or manual. Automated techniques use sophisticated electronic devices and computers. In addition to performing test procedures, medical laboratory technicians may collect blood samples, clean laboratory equipment, prepare solutions, and maintain quality control procedures. |
