HACIA’s Pre-Apprenticeship Program is designed to prepare individuals for entrance into apprenticeship programs in the construction trades & for future employment opportunities.
HACIA offers a Carpentry 1 & Electrical 1 Pre-apprenticeship combined program that is offered during the spring of your senior year (March/April) that takes place 3 nights per week from 4 PM – 8 PM for 6 months. Location is usually located in North or West Chicago but can be subject to change. You leave this program with the opportunity to be placed at a union or non-union contractor site for an electrician or carpenter apprenticeship. You will obtain your OSHA 10 Certification and take the NCCER National Curriculum throughout the program for Carpentry 1 and Electrical 1 curriculum. |
| Application Period | Apply your senior year in the fall or early spring semester on their website linked above. Applications are open for rolling admission up until the program start date in March or April of each year. You will not hear back about acceptance until February or March. |

| Requirements for Application | Must be 18 years old by the start of the program, have a valid Illinois drivers licence, have a social security card or Illinois work authorization, must have completed high school or be on track to graduate by the end of your senior year.
Diverse populations of students are encouraged to apply and have priority applications, but this program is open to all students that meet the above required qualifications. |
