CONSTRUCTION BUDGET/PHASING UPDATE
Rob Martinelli, Pepper Construction Project Manager, updated the facilities committee in September on the construction budget and the timeline for bid packages 3 and 4. The projected cost for each bid period is $7.4 million. ESSR Funds for air quality improvement are at $4.4 million with projected contingency savings at $4 million although currently there is $15 million in unused contingencies and allowances. Projects at East for BP3 include pool roof, music area HVAC and technology office. BP4 will be pool deepening, pool locker rooms and auditorium. Maine South’s projects are pre-purchase of music wing HVAC and exterior mechanical piping for BP3 along with music wing and theater improvements for BP4. Maine West will finish up all projects during BP3 with pool locker rooms, some classroom HVAC and auditorium. Timing for BP3 is to issue bids in October with Board approval on November 15. BP4 drawings will be completed in December, bids going out in February and Board approval in April, 2022. There is a list of items that were previously considered, but not completed because of budget; that should extra funds be available can be completed these include installation of athletic turf and East and West, interior door replacement and building rekeying.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Current building projects nearing completion include Center Court railings, Girls Locker Room lockers and the cafeteria at East with the wrestling room being finished in time for the season to begin. Maine South projects include completion of the Dance Room, Wrestling Room and Fitness Room. South’s east main corridor is continuing with floor installation. The lower level rotunda is progressing well at West with turnover planned for winter break. The B-wing gym is ongoing with completion anticipated for spring break.
