PROJECT SUMMARY
Summer Construction 2020
Continue to complete punch list activities, commissioning and close out documents at each school currently. Progress of ongoing work by school is listed below.
Maine East: Field House Brick Veneer is wrapping up. Windows and exterior glazing will commence over the next few weeks. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection trades have all started work inside the addition. Progress continues to maintain schedule.
The Potter Wing renovation project is being wrapped up. Final details and punch listing is on going. Owner has commenced their move in process which will continue over the next several weeks.
The 2nd portion of 3rd floor C wing is wrapping up and will be turned over for District’s use after the 1st of the year.
Maine South: The A Building link has been turned over for District use.
The courtyard infill addition is enclosed and overhead rough in work continues. Drywall soffits and framing have also started over the last few weeks. Work is progressing well.
The Food Labs are being wrapped up with ceilings and finishes. Work continues toward the early January completion and turnover to the District.
The façade replacement work continues on along the east side of the building.
Maine West: The Field House is nearing weather tight. The exterior windows will commence over next couple weeks. The roof is in place and overhead mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection continue. Locker room spaces are also on going with wall installation.
2nd floor of C Wing is complete and has been turned over to the District.
COVID 19 Impacts
Weekly Owner / Architect / Contractor Coordination remain remote via Google Meetings but the District and Wight continue to be present at each campus as needed to resolve issue and monitor the progress of the work.
We have seen less COVID cases in the construction workforce than last month but provide constant reminders relative to necessary to COVID practices.
Construction Budget
Over the next two months, the team will be working to determine the remaining budget for bid package 3. It is likely that this will include the Maine East competition pool renovation and locker room, the Maine West pool locker rooms, the auditoriums at all 3 schools and the performing arts wing at Maine South. The goal is to bring this information to the February Buildings & Grounds Committee meeting.
Bid Period No. 2 Design
Bid Period No. 2.5 for the finishes is complete and out to bid. Timeline for BP3 will be discussed over the next several months.
