Maine East High School is excited to present its upcoming production of Anything Goes, the classic, high-energy musical comedy featuring the unforgettable music and lyrics of Cole Porter. Audiences can catch the show in the Maine East Auditorium on February 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. and February 22 at 2 p.m. Reserved seating tickets are available for purchase online at https://bit.ly/MEBoxOffice and at the door for $15.
Set aboard a luxury ocean liner, Anything Goes follows a whirlwind of mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and over-the-top antics on the high seas. With iconic songs such as “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top,” and “Anything Goes,” the production showcases the talents of Maine East’s student performers through lively choreography, bold vocals, and fast-paced humor.
“Anything Goes” is easily one of the funniest and most energizing shows I’ve done in my four years of being in Maine East plays and musicals,” shares Maine East 12th grader Jackson Horvath. “Many of my peers and I knew nothing about the show going in, but we quickly witnessed how full of life and personality each character was. A lot of the ensemble members are constantly interacting with the scenes. They aren’t just people that show up for big dance numbers and vanish; they do so much work in every single scene to make the boat feel active and lived in.”
Packed with dazzling dance numbers, clever comedy, and timeless songs, this beloved show promises an evening of pure entertainment for audiences of all ages.
“Audiences should come see Anything Goes because every single person in this company has poured their heart into it,” says Nicko Gurbuxani, an 11th grader at Maine East. “Between the cast, crew, and orchestra pit, the talent in this production is unreal, and everyone works together to create something truly special. It’s the kind of show where you can feel the effort behind it.”
