The Board of Education recently approved the 2024-25 school calendar.
This calendar was created in consultation with the elementary school districts located within the District 207 boundaries. The winter and spring breaks in District 207 align with those partner districts.
Key dates in the calendar include:
- Aug. 14, 2024: First day for 9th graders only
- Aug. 15, 2024: All students in attendance
- Dec. 23, 2024-Jan. 3, 2025: Winter Break
- March 24-March 28, 2025: Spring Break
- May 29, 2025: Last Day of School
This calendar removes from the schedule a traditional parent/teacher evening which was first implemented with the 2023-24 calendar. Many districts have gone away from parent/teacher conferences and the reasoning in District 207 for this change is based on the fact that teachers and staff are available to speak to parents/guardians at any time to discuss the academic or social/emotional needs of a student. Additionally, parent/teacher conferences historically have been too short for parents/guardians and teachers to discuss concerns or provide deep answers to questions. Therefore, parents now are encouraged to connect with teachers at any time during the school year and not wait for a traditional conference date. In addition, if a teacher has academic or social/emotional concerns, he/she/they will reach out to the parent/guardian.
