Christian Volkmann Basketball Tournament at Maine West
SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, February 28, 2026
The Christian Volkmann Basketball Tournament, hosted by Maine West Special Olympics and the Educational Life Skills Program, will take place at Maine West High School on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The first games start at 10:00 AM and will end at 2:00 p.m. The Games will be in the fieldhouse and SPEC gym. This tournament could not be run successfully without the amazing student and staff volunteers!
Christian was a Maine West student who passed away in November 2011. Christian was 18 years old and loved Maine West. He looked forward to this tournament every year. Christian participated in Special Olympics and Friends Connect, and one of his favorite things to do was to watch the school band. Christian’s outgoing personality inspired everyone here at Maine West, and he is greatly missed. In honor of Christian, please go to the concession stand in the cafeteria and have the “Christian Special.”
