ESY

ESY SUMMER 2026

ESY OFFICE PHONE: 847-292-6521

Extended School Year (ESY) dates are set for June 2 – July 2 for the Summer of 2026. ESY will be delivered in person at Maine East High School for 5 weeks. Instructional hours will be from 8:15 am to 12:15 pm. Registration is required to participate.

ESY is defined as special education and related services provided to a child with a disability beyond the normal school year of the public agency following the child’s IEP and at no cost to the child’s parents (ISBE).  ESY services must be provided only if the student’s IEP team, individually and by the district’s IEP procedures, determines that ESY services are necessary to ensure FAPE. As with all IEP decisions, the final determination of the nature, frequency, and duration of services to be provided must be individually determined based on the student’s needs, as outlined in 34 CFR 300.106 and 23 IAC 226.230(a)(4).

The Maine Township High School District 207 ESY staff will include Special Education Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Speech-Language Pathologists, Psychologists, Occupational and Physical therapists, and other related service personnel. To participate in ESY, a student’s ‘active IEP’ must indicate a need for ESY services determined by their IEP team.
